When an Orthodox Christian boasted about Hagia Sophia, Mimar Sinan, the Ottoman Architect, was challenged. So, when Sultan Selim II ordered to build a mosque, Sinan realized his dream between 1568 and 1575.
Ultimately, Selimiye Camii became his masterpiece and is one of the highest achievements of Islamic architecture.
I once created a painting directly in a mosque on this European continent.
